Why did you first step into mentorship or coaching?

After spending over 30 years in sales, marketing, and business development—teaching and guiding businesses daily on how to build and scale—I found myself at a crossroads. A severe workplace accident, the second that forced me out of my established career, completely changed my path. During my recovery, I learned how to build and grow businesses online, adapting everything I knew from the offline world into the digital space.

Stepping into mentorship and coaching was a natural progression. It allowed me to take the wealth of experience I had gathered and share it with others who were just starting or looking to transition. Today, I support individuals in building and scaling their businesses online, mentoring them through their first 12 months, and often offering free coaching on the side to ensure they feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Mentoring gives me the ability to help people truly show up in their business, to find their confidence, and to step into their own potential. There is nothing more fulfilling than watching someone transform from uncertainty to clarity, and from fear to taking courageous action in their business.

What philosophy or values guide how you mentor others?

This is such an important question because every business owner and every new student learning to build and scale a business comes with different values, learning styles, and goals. To mentor effectively, I first needed to deeply understand my own values, which I did through reading The Values Factor by Dr John Demartini—a book I now recommend to every person I mentor. It was a game-changer in helping me discover what truly drives me and how to align my actions with what matters most.

This is the same journey I take my clients and students through. I encourage them to explore their values first so we can build their business in a way that feels aligned and authentic to them.

At the heart of my mentoring philosophy is service. It is never about me; it is always about them. My role is to cheer them on, support them to find clarity, and guide them to succeed in life and business on their terms. A successful mentor and coach knows when to step back, listen deeply, and walk beside their clients, empowering them to step into their own potential with confidence.

Today, I want to share the story of Sarah, who is not only one of our valued community members but also a moderator in our group. Over the past 12 months, I have witnessed an incredible transformation in Sarah, both personally and professionally.

When Sarah first stepped into the online space, she and her partner were really struggling financially and facing challenges in many areas of life. She came in with uncertainty, but also with a willingness to learn and grow. Watching her journey has been nothing short of inspiring.

Sarah has experienced deep personal growth, developing a powerful belief in herself and her vision. Her transformation is evident in the way she now shows up online. Her storytelling through social media posts captures hearts and inspires others, and she has mastered the art of attraction marketing and lead generation, using these skills to build her own online business with confidence.

One thing I always share with those I mentor is the importance of understanding what you truly want in life and learning how to take others on that journey with you. Sarah embodies this. She has stepped into her purpose, sharing her story in a way that not only brings people into her world but also empowers them to believe in what’s possible for themselves.

I am so proud of Sarah’s growth, and I know she will continue to impact many others who cross her path. If you haven’t met Sarah yet, I encourage you to reach out and connect with her—you will instantly see the light she brings into this space.

How do you continue to grow so you can serve better?

I believe growth is a lifelong journey, and I live by the philosophy that “the more you grow, the more you can serve.” Now at 54, I continue to schedule time in my diary every single day for learning, whether it’s expanding my knowledge in business, refining my mindset, or deepening my personal development.

I don’t think we ever stop learning, no matter if we’re 40, 60, or 80. If we stop, that’s when life can become stagnant. I teach this same philosophy to those I mentor, encouraging them to prioritise their own growth so they can show up fully for themselves and for others.

The truth is, when we fill our own cup, we can help fill the cups of others. It’s something I learned the hard way after years of pouring into everyone else first. Before launching my own online business, I spent 12 months dedicated to learning how to prioritise my wellbeing so I could serve at a higher level in the entrepreneurial space.

At the end of the day, it’s not about me. It’s about how I can best serve the people I mentor, helping them believe in themselves, step into their potential, and create the life they truly want. My commitment to continual growth ensures that I can walk alongside them confidently, guiding them with up-to-date knowledge, compassion, and real-world strategies that work.

What advice do you have for women stepping into leadership roles?

My advice for women stepping into leadership roles is simple: step in. Don’t hold back when opportunities come your way.

One thing my husband always said to me when I was offered leadership positions was, “You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.” I’ve carried this with me, and now I pass it on to every woman I mentor stepping into entrepreneurship or leadership for the first time.

Stepping into leadership often means leaning into fear and discomfort, but that’s where growth and change happen. If we keep stepping back, we stay stuck, and we miss out on what we are truly capable of achieving. Leadership is not just about holding a title; it’s about showing up, serving others, and sharing your journey to inspire and guide those around you.

One thing I tell every woman is: If you don’t like it, you don’t have to stay there forever. Just like in business or any job, if you try leadership and find it’s not for you, you can step back. But most often, what happens is that you grow, you learn, and you expand your knowledge and confidence in ways you never imagined.

Leadership gives you the opportunity to impact others, to serve, and to create a ripple effect in the lives of those around you. My advice is to take every opportunity that comes your way, lean in even when it feels scary, and trust that you truly have nothing to lose—and everything to gain.
