šŖ Do it scared.
š Do it anyway.
Thereās something unspoken that happens after we hit a certain age.
People expect us to slow down, play safe, shrink ourselves into what's āappropriateā or ānormalā for women over 40.
But after my 47th birthday, I found myself doing the exact opposite ā and I didnāt even see it coming.
šæ It started with a simple decision:
Say yes more often.
Not to everyone else ā but to myself.
Then came the wild ideas:
Skydiving.
Jumping off a waterfall in the middle of nowhere.
Swimming in forest water where bugs roam freely (and yes, I hate bugs).
Snorkelling with sea turtles.
Hiking through thorny, untamed brush.
And if that wasnāt enough⦠entering a singing competition called Voice of the Ocean on a cruise ship filled with strangers!
Every single one of those experiences would have terrified the younger me.
I would have found a reason to say no ā too messy, too risky, too out of character.
But at 47, something shifted.
I realised Iāve spent far too many years waiting for āthe right timeā or worrying what others might think.
And suddenly, the voice in my head changed.
It didnāt say, āWhat if I fail?ā anymore.
It said:
āI will do it anyway.ā
āļø I stopped waiting for the right time.
I chose now ā and thatās where my expansion began.
šø Permission granted: Live boldly.
āI will do it anyway.ā
Those five words have become my compass.
Because I now know ā Iām closer to the end of my time than the beginning.
That might sound confronting to some, but to me, itās liberating.
It means every moment counts.
Every experience matters.
And every fear I overcome is a step back to myself.
The older I get, the more Iāve come to love the woman Iāve become.
Not because sheās perfect ā but because sheās real.
Sheās no longer trying to fit in.
Sheās expanding into spaces she was once told werenāt meant for her.
Expansion isnāt about adding more to your plate.
Itās about becoming more of who you are.
Itās allowing yourself to take up space, to explore, to feel joy again ā even when the world tells you itās too late.
Itās not always comfortable.
Iāve had bruises, bug bites, sore muscles, and wobbly knees.
Iāve also had laughter, freedom, unforgettable memories,
and that deep inner glow that only comes from doing something just for you.
š» Expansion begins at brave.
Fear used to tell me to stay small.
Now it reminds me Iām on the edge of something beautiful.
š· Not too old ā just getting real.
If youāre reading this and thinking, āI could never do thatā¦ā
I want you to stop right there.
Because yes, you can.
You donāt have to jump out of a plane (unless you want to).
But you can say yes to something new.
You can stop hiding.
You can take that one brave step toward a life that excites you again.
It doesnāt have to be loud.
It doesnāt need applause.
It just needs your permission.
š« So hereās mine, if you need it:
Say yes.
Try the thing.
Feel the fear ā and do it anyway.
Because youāre not too old.
Youāre finally old enough to do life your way.
