How TRTP Changed the Way I Work With Trauma, DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY – And Why It Matters
In 2018, I stumbled across something that would dramatically shift the way I approached trauma – not only as a clinician, but as a woman who had spent nearly a decade deep in the trenches of my own personal transformation.
That “something” was The Richards Trauma Process, or TRTP, developed by Judith Richards.
At the time, I thought I had already done all the work. I had spent the past eight years dismantling the tangled web of my past – years marked by domestic violence, grief, loss, and a gnawing sense that I was somehow not enough.
Piece by piece, I rebuilt myself. I had a Diploma in Life Coaching, an Advanced Diploma in Nutritional Medicine, and a toolbox full of personal development modalities.
I had written a book. I had a beautiful new baby at 45 – after years of hoping a baby over 40 was going to be possible – and I was finally in a safe, healthy relationship with a truly good man. My career was thriving, my home was peaceful, and for the first time in a long time, life felt truly aligned.

TRTP: Transforming, Empowering Healing
And then, two weeks after giving birth, my sister died. She passed suddenly after decades of struggling with mental illness. Her death broke something open in me – not just grief, but a wave of anger and frustration that I couldn’t shake.
I had seen her suffer for so long. I had watched the mental health system, the revolving doors of psychologists, psychiatrists, and hospitals, do nothing for her. In fact, I believe they may have even contributed to her decline. With all the resources supposedly available to her, no one truly helped her heal.
And that was the thing: I knew healing was possible. I had lived it. I had clawed my way back from my own darkness. And yet, here I was, grieving a sister who never got the chance to do the same.

Healing Doesn’t Have to Take Years: The TRTP Approach
What’s strange is that I never set out to be a therapist. I never wanted to be a nutritionist.
I had a solid career in accounting and business management and felt accomplished and secure in that world. But life had other plans.
In some ways, it felt like my sister was leading me from the other side – I could see her, hear her saying, “People need this.” So I listened. I started working with clients just one day a week. I didn’t have to look for them – they found me.
From Grief to Growth: The journey with TRTP
I flew to Brisbane to do the TRTP training with my mother and newborn son in tow. I remember sitting in that room, holding my baby, as Judith told us her story – how TRTP was created, how she had barely survived the violence she endured, how she’d lost her mind, and how she pieced herself back together, crawling and clawing her way to healing in order to save her son. Each part of the process came to her through that journey – hard-won, deeply felt, and downloaded from her desperate search for clarity and wellness.
Judith is now an incredibly calm, grounded, and well-rounded woman. She trains health professionals, therapists, psychologists and coaches across the country in a completely new way to work with clients. She’s been featured in the media alongside international experts and researchers, and I’m honoured to be part of the very small cohort of qualified facilitators who are licensed to deliver her unique process.
Rediscovering Yourself with TRTP
Since that training, I’ve continued to expand and grow. I deepened my training in Hypnosis to a Diploma, became an NLP Trainer, and learned other profound modalities including Internal Family Systems, EFT (Tapping), Root Cause Therapy, Matrix Therapies, and Embodied Processing – a somatic therapy that works directly with the body’s memory of trauma.
Each of these tools offers something valuable, and they’ve helped me meet my clients exactly where they are.
But TRTP remains at the heart of what I do – because it works. Because it doesn’t retraumatise. Because it gives people their power back.

TRTP: The Key to Empowering Transformation
It breaks my heart to see people posting online about how much they’re struggling – living in pain, anxious, depressed, barely functioning. I’ve learned that everyone has a story. And some of us have survived a lot. Abuse. Neglect. Loss. Betrayal. It’s no wonder so many feel lost or broken.
But here’s what else I’ve learned: Down is not out.
Healing at the Core: TRTP’s Profound Impact
There is a way forward. There is a path to feeling light again – to waking up excited about life, to feeling calm and whole and at peace in your own skin. You don’t have to stay stuck. You don’t have to carry the past with you forever.
Healing is possible. I’ve lived it. I’ve witnessed it. And I want everyone to know – no matter how far gone things might seem – there is a way back to yourself.
A rich, deep, powerful life that is worthy of me… because that’s what I was born for!
Your trauma does not define you—your healing does.
