Testimonials from our ladies who join our last Thailand Retreat

Kristy

Our ladies trip to Thailand was the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and connection. One of the highlights was our Thai cooking class – such a fun and hands-on way to experience the local culture (and the food was incredible!).

Visiting the elephant sanctuary was also pretty amazing. And of course, the nights spent laughing, sharing stories, and socialising with some remarkable women made the trip even more memorable.

Mel

I thought what a crazy idea to go on a trip to Thailand with women i dont know! Well, what a trip it was. I met amazing women who all had different stories, from around Australia who uplifted each other, supported each other and shared in a beautiful experience of visiting a new country.

I would definitely recommend saying YES to a Yeah the girls 40+ holiday! You won't regret it.

Bec

My trip to Thailand was a great getaway. It was an opportunity to reconnect with women who I’ve met through the YTG40+ group as well as connect with new friends. It was a great bonding experience.. from tours through the Elephant Sanctuary, old Phuket Town, daily massages, sunset on Phuket beach, cocktails, a cooking class through which I’ve recreated dishes at home, to even a ping-pong show .

You can join in on the group activities as much as you want to, or there’s no pressure to do your own thing. This is a group for women connecting with other women & I love the opportunity this group presents for us to do that!

FAQs

Your top questions answered for a seamless East Asian adventure.

How is this different from a typical cheap China tour?

Most cheap tours are built to profit from shop commissions, not your experience.
You’re rushed, herded into shopping stops you didn’t choose, and stuck on a packed bus with 30+ people.
This retreat is the opposite.
It’s small-group, customised, with zero forced shopping, no early mornings, and designed for relaxation, cultural depth and joy. You’re not just a tourist — you’re part of a beautiful, handpicked journey.

What level of fitness is required for this retreat?

Our tours are designed for travellers with a moderate level of physical fitness. We explore cultural sites, walk through markets, gardens, and historic locations — but always at a comfortable pace.

If you're generally mobile and able to walk for short periods throughout the day (with breaks), you'll be absolutely fine.

We also offer alternative options for those who need a lighter experience that day — whether that’s choosing a shorter walking route, taking more rest time, or enjoying a spa treatment instead.

This is your journey. We never rush, and we always prioritise your wellbeing and comfort.

If you’re unsure, feel free to chat with us before booking — we’ll help you decide what’s right for you.

What kind of accommodation and food can we expect?

Daily breakfast and select meals during special dinners and culinary tours are included. Think 4–5 star comfort with a local twist. Beautiful hotels, calming spas, and clean, safe rooms designed for rest and restoration.
As for food – we give you freedom!
You can enjoy local delicacies, street food adventures, or fine dining experiences. No fixed menus or mystery meals – you choose what lights up your tastebuds each day.

What kind of women join this tour? Will I feel like I belong?

Our travellers are mostly women over 40 — warm-hearted, open-minded, and ready for something meaningful.
Some come solo, some bring a friend.

What they all have in common is a desire to experience culture deeply, connect with others, and take care of themselves.
There’s no cliques, no competition — just beautiful friendships formed over shared adventures. You will absolutely feel safe, seen, and supported. This is a judgement-free zone.

What’s included in the price? Are there hidden costs?

We’re transparent from the start. Your accommodation, activities, transfers, photo shoot experience, and group dinners are all included. The only things you’ll need to budget for are your return flights from Australia to Beijing, some lunches or dinner, Spa treatments and personal spending (like souvenirs or optional massage upgrades).

Do I need a visa to visit China or Hong Kong? Will you help with that?

Great news—visa hassles are minimal now:

China: Citizens of many countries (including Australia) can stay visa-free for up to 30 days as of July 2025 under a new policy covering about 75 countries mandarintimeschool.com+6travelchinaguide.com+6chinahighlights.com+6visaverge.com. If your passport isn’t covered, don’t stress – I’ll guide you through applying for a tourist visa, handling paperwork and timing so it’s easy and stress-free.

Hong Kong: Most passport holders enjoy visa-free entry ranging from 7 to 180 days, depending on nationality, so you’ll likely have no extra paperwork there.

How I support you:

I’ll help you check your eligibility.

Provide detailed guidance, links, and document lists.

Walk you through the process, or assist directly if needed.

Ensure you meet entry requirements before departure so you can come through smoothly.

How does the deposit work, and what happens if I change my mind or can’t attend?

To secure your spot, a non-refundable $200 holding deposit is required. The balance of your 30% deposit (totaling $894 for Twin Share or $1,074 for Single Room) must be paid by 10 December 2025 to confirm your booking.

All payments — including the holding deposit, full deposit, and final balance — are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable, regardless of illness, change of mind, travel disruptions, or personal emergencies.

The final 70% payment is due by 11 February 2026. If full payment isn’t received by that date, your booking will be cancelled and all prior payments forfeited.

This policy is in place because your payment secures your personalised arrangements, including internal flights and accommodation, which are booked well in advance and cannot be recovered.
We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance to protect your investment.

Is there an option for room sharing or single supplements

Yes, we offer both rooms sharing options for cost-saving or single supplements for privacy preferences. Pricing is listed in the itinerary.

What is the policy for travel insurance?

Travel insurance is mandatory for all our travelers.

What if I’m not familiar with Chinese culture or language? Will I feel lost or overwhelmed?

Not at all — that’s exactly why this tour was created for us.

I speak and read Chinese fluently, which makes communication so much easier. We also have English-speaking local guides to support us along the way.

As your personal guide — and someone who was raised in Hong Kong — I’ll be right there to bridge the cultural and language gap with warmth and ease. You’ll get stories and insights you’d never find in a brochure or on a public tour.

We’ll teach you a few fun phrases if you’re keen, but I’ll take care of all the navigation, translation, negotiation, and logistics — so you can simply relax, enjoy, and be fully present in the experience.

Is the flight included? And when should I book it?

Flights from your home country are not included, giving you the flexibility to fly in from anywhere, use frequent flyer points, or extend your travels if you wish.

➡️ For those flying from Sydney, the current return airfare to Beijing is approximately $1120 AUD (subject to change), and we recommend booking early to get the best deal.

✈️ What IS included is your domestic flight from Beijing to Guangzhou, valued at $500 AUD — already covered in your retreat package.

We’ll provide:
📆 The official tour start and end dates
🕘 Recommended flight times for arrival and departure
🏨 Info on early arrival or late departure accommodation
💺 Suggested airlines for a smooth, comfy journey

Need help with bookings? No worries! We have a trusted travel agent we work with who can help you book flights, organise travel insurance, and manage all the tricky bits.

📩 Just contact Martha directly, and she’ll connect you for a seamless travel planning experience.

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies? Will I be looked after?

Absolutely. We’ll ask about any dietary needs or allergies before the trip and make sure your meals are safe and enjoyable. From vegetarian and gluten-free to food allergies, we’ll take care of it all.

What makes this tour worth the price compared to cheaper tours I see online?

Great question. This isn’t a commercialised, shop-heavy, fast-paced tour. This is a hand-curated cultural retreat where you’re looked after from start to finish — from the slower mornings to the quality hotels, spa inclusions, and personal attention. You’re not just buying a holiday — you’re investing in an experience that fills your heart, soul, and photo album.
